Telefonica Movistar started to offer Venezuela access to wireless telephoning in 1991. They have now extended their services to include Internet, private nets, wireless transmission of data etc. The company has been a Mobitex operator since 1995 and the network is used for POS/Banking and Interactive messaging (T-Motion). The system operates on 900 MHz and covers Caracas, Guarenas, Guatire, La Guaira, Los Teques and San Antonia de los Altos.
